Maintaining the Appalachian Trail by clearing fallen trees, cutting back overgrown vegetation from the sides of the Trail, and repainting trail markers (a.k.a blazes) keeps the Appalachian Trail alive. This - and so much more - is all done by volunteers!



Enjoy a day hike on our beautiful section of the A.T. while helping out with some routine maintenance. Some minor tasks might include cleaning waterbars and steps, lopping rhododendron, dismantling fire rings, or painting blazes or shelters. All tools will be furnished, and no prior experience required! All are welcome, so come on out, meet some new hikers and join the fun…and maybe get your hands a little dirty!



Join the Tennessee Eastman Hiking and Canoeing Club (TEHCC) for their monthly, second Saturday, Hiking with Tools event. This event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 9 at 9:30 a.m.. This event is subject to cancellation in the event of inclement weather.



?This event is an introductory opportunity for giving back to the Appalachian Trail by helping out with routine maintenance. All tools will be furnished, and no prior experience required; hands-on training will be provided!



Please be sure to wear long pants and sturdy boots. Bring plenty of water and snacks for the day, lunch, sunscreen, bug spray, a rain jacket and personal work gloves, as well as a mask and hand sanitizer!
